Islamabad, August 22, 2026: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is expected to visit the United States next month to attend the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly and hold bilateral meetings with several world leaders on the sidelines of the gathering, according to reports.
The UN General Assembly session is scheduled to begin on September 8 in New York, bringing together heads of state and government from around the world to discuss major international, political, economic and security challenges.
During his visit, Prime Minister Shehbaz is expected to hold meetings with a number of world leaders and discuss matters of mutual interest, including regional developments, bilateral relations and international cooperation.
The visit comes as Pakistan continues to focus on strengthening its diplomatic and economic engagement with key international partners.
The prime minister’s expected US visit comes shortly after he stressed that challenges facing Balochistan should be addressed through dialogue and consensus, while emphasising that the people of the province have the first right to benefit from its natural resources.
Addressing the closing ceremony of the Balochistan National Workshop, Shehbaz said the purpose of the initiative was to listen to the views and concerns of participants and, through them, understand the aspirations of the people of Balochistan.
