Algiers, September 1,2026: Algerian Minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs, National Community Abroad and African Affairs Ahmed Attaf received German Foreign Minister Johan Fadivel at the ministry headquarters during the German minister’s working visit to Algeria.

The visit comes amid positive momentum in bilateral relations following Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune’s official visit to Berlin on July 16-17, 2026, where he held meetings with German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier and Federal Chancellor Friedrich Merz.

According to the Algerian Foreign Ministry, Ahmed Attaf held a private meeting with his German counterpart, followed by an expanded working session with members of the respective delegations.

The talks reviewed the current state of friendship and cooperation between Algeria and Germany and explored ways to further broaden bilateral ties in line with the recommendations of the “Joint Declaration on a Strategic Partnership Agenda” issued during President Tebboune’s visit to Germany.

The two sides agreed on the need to take tangible steps to further strengthen bilateral economic cooperation by capitalizing on available investment opportunities and potential partnerships in priority sectors.

Particular emphasis was placed on energy, renewable energy, energy transition, industry, transport and pharmaceuticals.

The two sides also stressed the importance of activating existing cooperation mechanisms, strengthening the legal framework and promoting greater engagement between business communities to ensure implementation of agreements and partnership contracts signed during the Algerian-German Economic Forum held on July 17.

The meeting also provided an opportunity for the two ministers to exchange views on a number of regional and international issues of mutual interest, particularly the current situation in the Middle East, developments in the Sahel region and prospects for the Euro-Mediterranean partnership.
