Bishkek, September 1, 2026: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif met Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Council of Heads of State meeting in Bishkek on Tuesday and agreed to further strengthen bilateral cooperation.

The two leaders expressed satisfaction with the positive trajectory of Pakistan-Belarus relations and the growing cooperation between the two countries in political, trade, economic, defence and cultural fields.

Recalling President Lukashenko’s historic visit to Pakistan in November 2024 and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s visit to Belarus in April 2025, the leaders agreed to further enhance bilateral cooperation in trade, industry, agriculture, information technology and vocational training.

The two sides identified these sectors as priority areas for expanding practical cooperation and generating greater economic opportunities for both countries.

As Pakistan assumes the chairmanship of the SCO Council of Heads of State, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif extended a warm invitation to President Lukashenko to visit Pakistan next year.

The two leaders reaffirmed their shared commitment to taking the longstanding friendly relations between Pakistan and Belarus to new heights and further expanding mutually beneficial cooperation.
