Quetta, September 1, 2026: Six security and government personnel, including two officers and a Customs official, were martyred during coordinated attacks in Balochistan, while security forces killed 21 terrorists in separate incidents in Chagai and Pishin districts, the military’s media wing said on Tuesday.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the attacks took place during the night of August 31 and September 1 in Nokcha area of Chagai district and Ziarat Cross in Pishin district.
In one incident, terrorists belonging to Fitna al-Khawarij launched a coordinated attack in an attempt to breach the Customs House.
“Security forces responded effectively and, after an intense fire exchange, killed 10 terrorists,” ISPR said.
The fleeing terrorists were subsequently engaged by security forces, resulting in further casualties, it added.
During the exchange of fire, six personnel, including two officers and a government official from the Customs Department, made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty, according to ISPR.
The military described the Customs House attack as a manifestation of the “terror-crime nexus”, saying it was aimed at preventing Customs officials from performing their lawful duties and facilitating criminal activities in the area.
Sanitisation operations were continuing in the surrounding areas to eliminate any remaining terrorists and ensure the safety of local residents and vital national highways, ISPR said.
In a separate incident on August 31, terrorists belonging to Fitna al-Hindustan attempted to disrupt the movement of commuters on the N-40 Quetta-Taftan Highway by establishing an illegal checkpoint for extortion.
Security forces responded immediately and killed 11 terrorists following an intense exchange of fire, the military said.
A large quantity of weapons, ammunition and explosives was also recovered from the militants.
The military uses the term Fitna al-Khawarij for the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), while Fitna al-Hindustan is used by the state to refer to Balochistan-based militant groups that it alleges are sponsored by India.
ISPR said the counter-terrorism campaign under the vision of “Azm-i-Istehkam”, approved by the Federal Apex Committee under the National Action Plan, would continue with full resolve.
“Security forces and law enforcement agencies remain committed to eliminating the menace of foreign-sponsored and foreign-supported terrorism from the country,” it said.
The latest clashes come a day after security forces killed 12 terrorists following an attack on a convoy of vehicles associated with the Reko Diq copper and gold project in the Chagai area.
Two other terrorists were also reported killed on Monday during an intelligence-based operation in Washuk district.
