Rawalpindi, September 3, 2026: Security forces killed 15 militants belonging to what Pakistan describes as the Indian-sponsored Fitna Al Khwarij after thwarting an infiltration attempt along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border opposite North Waziristan, the military’s media wing said on Thursday.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), security forces detected the movement of a group of militants attempting to infiltrate Pakistan during the night of August 31 and September 1.
The security forces responded and engaged the infiltrators in what ISPR described as a professional and measured operation. The engagement continued for approximately 36 hours, resulting in the deaths of 15 militants, it said.
“Precise and skillful engagement” enabled the security forces to successfully neutralise the infiltrators, according to the statement.
During a subsequent sanitisation operation, security forces recovered a significant quantity of weapons and ammunition from the militants, ISPR said, adding that the recovery further exposed what it described as the militants’ plans and those of their facilitators to disrupt peace and stability in Pakistan.
ISPR said the latest incident along the border once again supported Pakistan’s longstanding position that the Afghan Taliban regime had failed to prevent terrorist organisations from using Afghan territory for cross-border attacks against Pakistan.
The military’s media wing accused the Afghan Taliban regime of failing to ensure effective border management and fulfil its international obligations.
“Pakistan’s Security Forces remain resolute and unwavering in their commitment to defend the nation’s frontiers,” ISPR said.
The statement said a sanitisation operation was continuing in the area to locate and eliminate any remaining militants.
ISPR added that Pakistan’s counterterrorism campaign under the vision of “Azm-e-Istehkam”, approved by the Federal Apex Committee on the National Action Plan, would continue at full pace.
The military said security forces and law-enforcement agencies remained committed to eliminating the threat of foreign-sponsored and supported terrorism from the country.
