Islamabad, September 3, 2026: Pakistani scientist and OIC-COMSTECH Distinguished Scholar Prof. Dr. Hina Siddiqui has been elected as a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry (FRSC), United Kingdom, in recognition of her contributions to chemical sciences, particularly medicinal chemistry and the development of new anti-infective agents.
Coordinator General OIC-COMSTECH Prof. Dr. M. Iqbal Choudhary extended his warm congratulations to Prof. Siddiqui on the prestigious international distinction, expressing confidence that her achievement would further enhance Pakistan’s standing in the global scientific community.
Prof. Siddiqui is a Professor of Organic and Medicinal Chemistry at the H.E.J. Research Institute of Chemistry, International Center for Chemical and Biological Sciences (ICCBS), University of Karachi, and serves as an OIC-COMSTECH Distinguished Scholar.
She completed her Ph.D. under the supervision of Prof. Dr. M. Iqbal Choudhary and subsequently received advanced research training in the United States and Germany, further strengthening her expertise in organic and medicinal chemistry.
With more than 70 international research publications, a granted US patent and several local patents to her credit, Prof. Siddiqui has established a significant research profile in the field of medicinal chemistry.
Her research has focused particularly on the development of new anti-infective agents, while she has also played an important role in developing young scientific talent through extensive supervision and mentoring of M.Phil. and Ph.D. researchers.
Prof. Dr. Iqbal Choudhary said the recognition reflected Prof. Siddiqui’s sustained scientific contributions and commitment to advancing research and innovation.
He expressed confidence that she would continue to contribute to the advancement of chemical sciences, mentor emerging researchers and bring further recognition to Pakistan and the wider scientific community of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).
