London, September 3, 2026: Pakistan’s cricket team players and officials met King Charles III at Clarence House in London, where the monarch spoke with the national squad and discussed cricket as well as Pakistan’s efforts to promote peace and security.
Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi was also present during the meeting and held a conversation with the British monarch.
According to Naqvi, King Charles encouraged the Pakistani players and praised Pakistan’s efforts towards peace.
The monarch also discussed cricket and Pakistan’s role in maintaining peace and security in the country with the PCB chairman.
During the meeting, the British High Commissioner briefed King Charles on Pakistan’s contribution to regional peace efforts, telling the monarch that Pakistan and Naqvi had played an important role in promoting peace in the region.
Speaking to media after the meeting, Naqvi described his interaction with King Charles as “very productive”.
Naqvi has since departed the United Kingdom and is returning to Pakistan.
The national cricket team is currently touring England for a three-match Test series, but the campaign has been overshadowed by two heavy defeats in the opening fixtures.
Pakistan entered the series after drawing 1-1 away against the West Indies but suffered a crushing innings-and-103-run defeat against England in the opening Test in the absence of star batter Babar Azam.
The second Test at Lord’s brought another setback. Despite Pakistan’s strong record at the historic venue, where they had not lost a Test since 2010 and had won their previous two matches, the visitors were defeated by 194 runs as England secured an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series.
The consecutive defeats triggered severe criticism from cricket pundits and prompted the PCB to undertake a major overhaul ahead of the third Test.
The board released seven players from the squad, while head coach Sarfaraz Ahmed and bowling coach Umar Gul were also removed from their positions.
The third and final Test is scheduled to begin in Birmingham next Wednesday, with Pakistan looking to avoid a series whitewash and end the tour on a positive note.
