Islamabad, September 4, 2026: Pakistan on Friday categorically rejected what it described as “false and politically motivated” assertions by the Indian Ministry of External Affairs regarding damage to a Hindu temple at Adda Siraj in Narowal.
Responding to media queries, Foreign Office spokesperson Sajjad Haider Khan said the temple’s structure was damaged on July 21 due to torrential rains, rejecting Indian claims about the cause of the damage.
He said local authorities had already surveyed the damage caused by the rains and initiated steps for restoration of the building.
“It is, therefore, shameful that India is distorting facts and resorting to cheap gimmicks,” the spokesperson said.
The Foreign Office spokesperson accused India of deliberately distorting facts to divert attention from what Pakistan described as its record of persecution of minorities and attacks against their places of worship.
He said the international community was aware of what he termed the “weaponization of Hindutva ideology” against minorities and called for Indian leadership to be held accountable for the alleged persecution of Muslim, Sikh and Christian communities.
Pakistan’s statement came in response to a press release issued by India’s Ministry of External Affairs concerning the Hindu temple at Adda Siraj, Narowal.
