Islamabad, November 25, 2024- The Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) approved 10 out of 11 proposed development projects, with a cumulative cost of Rs 172.7 billion, during its meeting on Monday. The session was chaired by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar.

Six of the approved projects focus on improving infrastructure and connectivity in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, aimed at addressing long-standing developmental gaps in these provinces.

Among the initiatives, a major World Bank-funded project worth Rs 29.2 billion was greenlit for developing solid waste management infrastructure in Karachi, marking a significant step toward addressing the city’s environmental challenges.

One proposed project from the Ministry of Health was deferred pending further clarification and revisions, highlighting the committee’s emphasis on ensuring detailed evaluation before granting approvals.
