Nisshin (Japan), September 17, 2026: Pakistan advanced to the semi-finals of the Asian Games women’s cricket competition after defeating Thailand by three wickets in a rain-affected quarter-final at Korogi Sports Park on Thursday.
The match was reduced to 11 overs per side after persistent rain delayed the start, with the toss also held up due to the weather.
After being put into bat, Thailand scored 91 for four in their allotted 11 overs. Wicketkeeper-batter Nannapat Koncharoenkai top-scored with 49 off 38 balls, hitting seven boundaries.
Phannita Maya contributed 15 off 16 balls, while captain Naruemol Chaiwai provided a late boost with an unbeaten 10 off just three deliveries, including a boundary and a six.
Pakistan captain Fatima Sana led the bowling attack with two wickets for 22 runs from three overs, while left-arm spinner Nashra Sandhu claimed one wicket.
Pakistan chased down the 92-run target in the final over, losing seven wickets in the process.
Shawaal Zulfiqar top-scored for Pakistan with 25 off 14 balls, hitting three fours and a six. Fatima Sana added 21 off 13 balls, including three fours and a six, while Gull Feroza scored 16 off 13 deliveries.
Tuba Hassan contributed a quick 13 off seven balls, with one four and a six, before Umm-e-Hani scored the winning run to complete Pakistan’s three-wicket victory and secure a place in the semi-finals.
