Government, PPP and opposition conclude first round of talks

Islamabad, October 2,2026: The first round of talks between the government, Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and opposition concluded at Parliament House on Thursday under the chairmanship of National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq.

The participants held detailed discussions on the prevailing political situation and exchanged views on various matters of national importance.

Representatives of the government, PPP and opposition apprised one another of their respective positions and held a detailed exchange of views in a constructive and cordial atmosphere.

The participants emphasized the need to resolve national issues through dialogue and negotiations.

According to the National Assembly spokesperson, the second round of talks will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday in the Chamber of Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq.

The National Assembly Speaker played a key role in facilitating dialogue among the government, PPP and opposition.

Federal Ministers Ameer Muqam, Rana Sanaullah, Mohsin Naqvi, Talal Chaudhry and Tariq Fazal Chaudhary, Senator Sherry Rehman, and MNAs Syed Naveed Qamar and Ejaz Hussain Jakhrani attended the meeting.

Opposition representatives included Barrister Gohar Khan, Raja Nasir Abbas, Malik Amir Dogar, former Speaker Asad Qaiser, Salman Akram Raja and Haleem Adil Sheikh.
