Lahore, October 2,2026: Two unarmed Pakistani civilians were martyred and another injured in alleged firing by India’s Border Security Force (BSF) near the Pakistan-India border in Kasur, state-run Radio Pakistan reported on Friday.
Citing security sources, Radio Pakistan reported that three residents of Ladhar village had moved a few steps beyond a border pillar when the BSF allegedly opened fire on them without warning.
The report said two civilians were killed while another sustained injuries. It identified the deceased as Azmat Rasool and Mohsin Jutt, both residents of Jattan Wali Haveli in Ladhar.
According to the security sources cited in the report, none of the three men had attempted to cross the border fence and all were unarmed.
The sources described the incident as a violation of the border agreement and standard operating procedures governing the Pakistan-India international border.
Radio Pakistan said Indian media reports had described the civilians as alleged infiltrators, while Pakistan’s account characterised them as innocent civilians.
The incident comes a day after Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Director General Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry criticised Indian claims regarding the alleged neutralisation of a “terrorist” purportedly linked to the Pakistani military. The individual was presented during a press conference.
Asked whether such allegations could lead to another armed conflict between Pakistan and India, the ISPR chief said Pakistan’s armed forces remained prepared to respond to any such move and warned of a “very harsh” response.
