Baku, October 3, 2026: A special literary event titled “Bridges between languages: Launch of Azerbaijani-Urdu literary translations” was held in Baku under the auspices of the Embassy of Pakistan, in collaboration with the Centre for Pakistani Language and Culture at the Azerbaijan University of Languages.

The event featured the launch of the Azerbaijani translation of “Manzil Ki Taraf,” a well-known book by Pakistani motivational speaker and author Qasim Ali Shah, and the Urdu translation of “Valley of Enchantment,” a prominent work by Azerbaijani educationist, intellectual and Azerbaijan University of Languages Rector Professor Kamal Abdulla.

The translations reflected the growing literary, academic and cultural ties between Pakistan and Azerbaijan, as well as the close bonds between the peoples of the two countries.

Pakistan’s Minister of State for Federal Education and Professional Training Wajiha Qamar inaugurated the event.

Members of Azerbaijan’s parliament, Tamam Jafarova and Rizvan Nabiyev, appreciated the historic, fraternal and friendly relations between Pakistan and Azerbaijan and emphasized the importance of further promoting people-to-people and cultural ties between the two countries.

A special photography exhibition by Virginia Morgan-Hayat was also held during the event, featuring Pakistan’s diverse cultural heritage, historical sites, natural beauty and scenic landscapes. Virginia shared her experiences and impressions of Pakistan with the participants.

A documentary titled “Salam Pakistan”, highlighting Pakistan’s cultural diversity and beauty, was also screened and received keen interest from the audience.

Guests were further introduced to Pakistani culture through a selection of traditional Pakistani cuisine and sweets, which they enjoyed during the event.

Members of the Azerbaijani parliament, academics, intellectuals, writers, students, media representatives and prominent figures from various walks of life attended the ceremony.

The event concluded with an emphasis on the important role of literary and cultural exchanges in promoting the longstanding friendship, mutual understanding and people-to-people ties between Pakistan and Azerbaijan. Participants noted that translations of literature from both countries were serving as an effective means of understanding each other’s languages, cultures and intellectual heritage.
