Bucharest, October 6, 2026: Romanian Ambassador to Pakistan Dr. Dan Stoenescu has stressed the need to translate the strong diplomatic relationship between Romania and Pakistan into concrete business partnerships, investment and increased trade.
Addressing the Romania-Pakistan Business Forum in Bucharest, Ambassador Stoenescu said the two countries must move from ambition to agreements and from opportunities to tangible results.
He said Romania and Pakistan enjoy excellent political relations, dynamic private sectors, complementary economies and strategically important locations, but their economic potential remains greater than reflected in current trade figures.
“Now it is time for business to catch up with diplomacy,” he said.
The ambassador said the Embassy of Romania in Islamabad, the Pakistan-Romania Business Council and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Romania (CCIR) had joined hands to bring the Pakistani business delegation to Romania.
He particularly thanked Pakistani business leaders, including Atif Farooqi and Sohail Shamim Firpo, for travelling to Romania and seeking opportunities for partnerships and business cooperation.
Ambassador Stoenescu said Romania offers Pakistani companies access to the European Union and its Single Market, while its strategic location on the Black Sea provides opportunities in agriculture, IT, energy, manufacturing, education, logistics and other sectors.
Referring to the cooperation framework recently established between Karachi Port and the Port of Constanța, he said the next step was to give practical substance to this connection by increasing shipping, container movement, trade and investment between the Arabian Sea and the Black Sea.
He said the Pakistani delegation would visit Bucharest, Ploiești, Constanța and Brașov, where it would engage with Romanian companies, chambers of commerce, universities and public institutions.
The ambassador emphasized that the success of the business mission should not be measured by the number of meetings, photographs or memoranda signed, but by actual contracts, investments, joint ventures, increased exports and partnerships that continue to grow.
“Romania is open for Pakistani business. Pakistan offers real opportunities for Romanian companies. The doors are open. Now it is time to walk through them,” he said.
Ambassador Stoenescu expressed hope that the forum and the Pakistani delegation’s visit would help transform economic potential into lasting partnerships and contribute to prosperity in both countries.
