Dubai, November 27, 2024 – Afghanistan’s Rashid Khan has overtaken Pakistan’s Shaheen Shah Afridi to claim the top spot in the ICC men’s ODI bowling rankings, marking a significant shift in the latest standings released on Wednesday.

Shaheen, who ascended to the No. 1 position after an exceptional series against Australia, where he took eight wickets at an average of 12.62, was rested for Pakistan’s ongoing series against Zimbabwe, leading to his drop in the rankings. Meanwhile, South Africa’s Keshav Maharaj retains third place.

Haris Rauf, another key bowler for Pakistan, who was instrumental in the team’s 2-1 series victory over Australia and earned the Player of the Series award, has slipped two spots to 15th in the ODI rankings.

In the batting rankings, Pakistan’s Saim Ayub made headlines by climbing 80 places to secure 90th position following his explosive century in the second ODI against Zimbabwe. The batting rankings continue to be dominated by Pakistan captain Babar Azam.

Jasprit Bumrah reclaims top spot in test bowling rankings

India’s Jasprit Bumrah has reclaimed the No. 1 position in the ICC Test bowling rankings after his stellar performance in India’s 295-run victory over Australia in the opening Test of the five-match series in Perth.

Bumrah’s match-winning figures of 8/72 propelled him past Australia’s Josh Hazlewood and South Africa’s Kagiso Rabada, earning him a career-best 883 rating points — the highest by an Indian pacer in Test cricket. Only spinners Ravichandran Ashwin (904) and Ravindra Jadeja (899) have achieved higher ratings among Indian bowlers.

This marks Bumrah’s third stint at the top spot this year, following brief periods in February and October.

On the batting side, India’s Yashasvi Jaiswal and Virat Kohli made significant gains after their standout performances in Perth. Jaiswal climbed to a career-best second position, surpassing England’s Harry Brook and New Zealand’s Kane Williamson, and now trails only Joe Root. Kohli moved up nine places to 13th following his century in India’s come-from-behind win.
