ISLAMABAD, October 8: (Sub News) The Embassy of the Republic of Tajikistan hosted a grand reception in Islamabad to celebrate the 35th anniversary of Tajikistan’s Independence Day, highlighting the longstanding bonds of friendship, brotherhood and cooperation between Tajikistan and Pakistan.
Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives Ahsan Iqbal graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. Prime Minister’s Coordinator on Tourism Sardar Yasir Ilyas Khan and Senator Talha Mahmood were also among the distinguished guests.
Ambassador of Tajikistan to Pakistan Yusuf Sharifzoda hosted the reception and welcomed the dignitaries. A large number of ambassadors, high commissioners, diplomats, senior government officials and representatives of civil society attended the ceremony.
The event featured a cake-cutting ceremony, with Federal Minister Ahsan Iqbal, Ambassador Yusuf Sharifzoda and other distinguished guests jointly cutting the commemorative cake to mark the 35th anniversary of Tajikistan’s independence.
Addressing the gathering, Federal Minister Ahsan Iqbal underscored the importance of Pakistan-Tajikistan relations, which are rooted in shared history, cultural affinity and mutual interests.
He reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to further strengthening bilateral cooperation, particularly in the areas of trade, tourism, energy and regional connectivity.
Speaking on the occasion, Ambassador Yusuf Sharifzoda said that Pakistan and Tajikistan enjoyed close and brotherly relations, expressing hope that the bilateral ties would be further strengthened with the passage of time.
He said cooperation between the two countries was progressing positively but there was a need to further enhance bilateral trade and economic relations. He emphasized the importance of exploring new avenues to deepen mutually beneficial cooperation between Pakistan and Tajikistan.
The participation of diplomats, government officials and representatives of civil society reflected the strong diplomatic and people-to-people ties between the two brotherly countries.
The ceremony concluded with prayers for the continued prosperity and progress of Tajikistan and its people, as well as for further strengthening of the fraternal relations between Pakistan and Tajikistan.
