Rawalpindi, October 18, 2026: Pir Mehr Ali Shah Arid Agriculture University Rawalpindi (PMAS-AAUR) has set a new admission record, enrolling more than 4,500 students in the Fall 2026 semester under the leadership of Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Qamar-uz-Zaman.

According to a four-year comparative analysis released by the university, admissions have increased by 65.4% compared with the 2,600 students enrolled in Fall 2024. The latest figure also represents an increase of approximately 9.8% over the 4,100 admissions recorded in Fall 2025.

University statistics show that admissions stood at 3,000 in Fall 2023 before declining by 13.3% to 2,600 in Fall 2024. The university subsequently made a strong recovery, recording a 57.7% increase to 4,100 admissions in Fall 2025, followed by another rise in Fall 2026, when enrolment crossed the 4,500 mark.

Congratulating faculty members, administrative staff and admission teams on the achievement, Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Qamar-uz-Zaman attributed the success to the collective efforts of the university community.

He said the current era was driven by information technology and noted that strong enrolment across a wide range of disciplines reflected students’ confidence in the university’s academic and research environment. These fields include agriculture, livestock, computer sciences, information technology, natural and social sciences, management sciences, engineering and biotechnology.

University spokesperson and Director of DITS, Dr. Nadeem Ahmad Malik, said the high number of applicants reflected the institution’s academic reputation, practical training opportunities and modern laboratory facilities.

He praised the vice chancellor’s leadership and progressive initiatives, reaffirming the university’s commitment to providing quality education, modern academic facilities and a learning environment aligned with contemporary educational and professional requirements.
