Islamabad, November 28, 2024 – Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced on Thursday that the government will create an Anti-Riots Force to counter any future attempts to incite violence and unrest across the country. This specialized force will be equipped with professional training and necessary resources to meet international standards.

Speaking at a meeting to review the country’s law and order situation, the Prime Minister emphasized that legal actions would be taken against those responsible for damaging public and private property, as well as armed individuals involved in unrest.

He also directed the development of a comprehensive strategy to prevent any future marches towards Islamabad or other cities for political or personal motives. The Prime Minister stressed that those who had attempted to destabilize the country for political gain would face justice.

During the meeting, the Prime Minister was briefed on recent protests that saw demonstrators targeting government property and attacking security personnel. He noted that the government had shown restraint by preventing armed groups from using peaceful protests as a cover for violence.

“Rather than following legal procedures, efforts were repeatedly made to create chaos, mobilizing forces toward Islamabad to spread unrest,” the Prime Minister said, adding that several security forces personnel had been injured or martyred during these disturbances.

The Prime Minister further questioned, “How can these individuals claim to be revolutionaries when they are attempting to destroy the nation?”

He instructed that immediate legal action be taken against the individuals involved in the violent mob that marched towards Islamabad. He also emphasized the need for improvements in the prosecution system to ensure swift justice.

Noting the economic impact of these disruptions, the Prime Minister pointed out that the stock exchange had crossed the 100,000-point mark after the disturbances were quelled. He held the disruptive groups and their masterminds responsible for the financial losses, which he estimated to be in the billions.

The Prime Minister paid tribute to the security personnel who lost their lives during the unrest and called for the identification and punishment of those responsible for inciting public agitation.
