Islamabad, October 21,2026: Japan’s Ambassador to Pakistan, Akamatsu Shuichi, on Wednesday inaugurated the Tine Girls Model Primary School in Tarnol, Islamabad, built with financial assistance of $44,025 from the Government of Japan.
The project was implemented by the Community Services Programme (CSP), a non-governmental organization working to support vulnerable and marginalized communities across Pakistan through education, healthcare, clean water and women’s empowerment.
The funding was provided under the Japanese government’s Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GGP) programme.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by officials of the Japanese Embassy, CSP representatives, teachers, students, parents and members of the local community.
The newly constructed school features eight classrooms and essential facilities, including a principal’s office, washrooms, a leveled playground and 250 student chairs. CSP also provided additional resources to install a solar power system, an underground water storage tank, an electric water cooler and an interactive smart board to support digital learning.
The school currently has 240 enrolled students and can accommodate up to 250 young learners, providing girls in Tarnol with improved access to education in a safe, comfortable and modern learning environment.
Addressing the ceremony, Ambassador Akamatsu congratulated CSP on completing the project despite challenging weather conditions. He emphasized that education is a fundamental human right and a cornerstone of human security, as well as an essential foundation for building a prosperous society.
He particularly highlighted the importance of girls’ education for Pakistan’s future, noting that education remains a key priority of Japan’s development cooperation in the country.
The Japanese ambassador reaffirmed his country’s commitment to supporting Pakistan’s sustainable development and expressed hope that the school would serve as a lasting symbol of the longstanding friendship and cooperation between Japan and Pakistan.
The initiative reflects Japan’s continued support for grassroots development projects aimed at improving educational opportunities and strengthening human security in local communities across Pakistan.
