Islamabad, October 22,2026: Ethiopian Ambassador to Pakistan Dr. Oumer H. Oba hosted COMSATS University Islamabad (CUI) Rector Dr. Raheel Qamar and his delegation at the Ethiopian Embassy on Thursday for a traditional Ethiopian coffee ceremony, with discussions focusing on strengthening educational and scientific cooperation between the two countries.

The visit followed the ambassador’s recent meeting with COMSATS leadership at the university’s campus. Both sides discussed ways to advance earlier proposals for student and faculty exchanges, joint research in science and technology, and collaboration in emerging fields, including artificial intelligence and robotics.

Dr. Oumer proposed faculty exchanges as an initial step towards broader academic cooperation, which could subsequently lead to joint research projects and scientific publications.

The ambassador also briefed the visiting delegation on Ethiopia’s tourism, culture and history, highlighting the origins of coffee in Ethiopia and its cultural significance as a tradition that promotes harmony and social interaction among the Ethiopian people.

Dr. Raheel Qamar invited Ethiopian universities to visit Pakistan and collaborate with COMSATS in pursuit of shared development goals under the spirit of South-South Cooperation.

Appreciating Ethiopia’s coffee culture, the CUI rector assured the ambassador of his full support for strengthening educational ties and expanding cooperation between Pakistani and Ethiopian universities.
