Peshawar, November 30, 2024 -Khyber Pakhtunkhwa KP Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur has called on the federal government to deploy Frontier Corps (FC) platoons in tribal areas to aid efforts aimed at restoring peace. Despite political differences between federal and provincial administrations, Gandapur stressed the need for unity in addressing the security challenges.

Speaking at a grand jirga in Kohat on the Kurram conflict, Gandapur emphasized the importance of taking firm action against those disrupting peace. He directed security personnel to treat such individuals as terrorists, stating, “Anyone disturbing the peace will face the same fate as terrorists.” He commended the collaborative efforts of the military, police, and local administration, underscoring their role in fostering long-term stability.

Gandapur reiterated the provincial government’s commitment to maintaining harmony by calling for the removal of all bunkers in the area without discrimination. He urged local leaders and community elders to play an active role in reducing tensions and identifying individuals inciting unrest. “The community must step forward to reduce animosity, and elders should work to eliminate the atmosphere of hatred,” he said.

The Chief Minister also stressed the importance of disarmament, proposing the collection of heavy weaponry from residents and the temporary seizure of arms in border communities. He warned that anyone raising weapons would be treated as a terrorist and face severe consequences.

Addressing the challenges faced by temporarily displaced persons (TDPs), Gandapur assured the jirga that the provincial government would prioritize funding for their dignified resettlement. He emphasized that ensuring the safe return of displaced families remains a top priority.

The jirga will remain in session until peace is fully restored, with the provincial government extending its full support. Gandapur expressed confidence that collective action and decisive measures would lead to lasting stability in the region.
