Islamabad, November 6,2026: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan on Friday expressed concern over reports about the health of incarcerated party founder Imran Khan, saying the information emerging about the former prime minister’s condition was not encouraging.
Speaking to reporters outside Parliament House, Gohar said the entire nation was concerned about Imran’s health and stressed that there should be no compromise on his medical treatment.
“The reports concerning the PTI founder’s health are not encouraging, and the entire nation is worried,” he said.
Gohar said lawyer Salman Safdar had met Imran and received instructions concerning his health and pending legal cases. He added that the PTI had approached the Supreme Court seeking implementation of its August 18 order regarding the former prime minister’s medical treatment.
According to Gohar, the court had directed that Imran be shifted for treatment and that a medical board be constituted to assess his condition. The party has submitted an application requesting an early hearing of the matter.
“Decisions should be taken regarding the PTI founder’s transfer to hospital and medical treatment,” he said.
The PTI chairman also called for an end to political tensions and demanded the release of detained lawmakers, party workers and supporters. He expressed concern over the detention of Imran’s sisters, saying the party had not received information about their condition, and called for their immediate release.
Gohar’s remarks came amid uncertainty surrounding Imran’s health following statements circulated on social media by his sister Rubina Khan and son Kasim Khan.
In a statement shared by Kasim, Rubina said Imran had conveyed that his blood pressure had suddenly risen to 192. She called for his immediate admission to an independent medical facility in the presence of his personal doctor.
Kasim also expressed concern over his father’s prolonged isolation, warning of possible consequences for his health.
However, the source of the information shared by the family remains unclear. Salman Safdar, who met Imran and his wife Bushra Bibi at Adiala Jail on November 2, subsequently distanced himself from the reports, saying he was not the source of the information circulating about the former prime minister’s health.
Safdar said his responsibilities were strictly legal and that he was not acting as anyone’s messenger. He also said he had been allowed to meet Imran after seven months and Bushra Bibi after 11 months.
According to the lawyer, the meeting lasted approximately 40 minutes, during which both discussed their health, living conditions and pending legal matters.
Meanwhile, sources familiar with the meeting told an English-language daily that Imran had mentioned his blood pressure rising to around 190 on one occasion but was otherwise generally fit, with no indication of an immediate serious medical emergency.
The sources added that the former prime minister was particularly concerned about his wife’s health, including a reported eye-related problem.
The differing accounts have left questions about Imran’s current health unresolved, with no independently verified medical assessment available in the information provided.
