APC (without PTI) voices concerns over law and order in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

Peshawar, December 5, 2024 –An All Parties Conference (APC) convened by Governor Faisal Karim Kundi expressed serious reservations about the deteriorating law and order situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP). While representatives from 16 political parties attended the meeting at the Governor House, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), which governs the province, boycotted the event.

The APC declaration underscored the collective resolve of participating parties to address the province’s pressing challenges. It called for an audit of the KP government’s performance and demanded the reopening of the Pakistan-Afghanistan border for all types of trade activities. Additionally, the conference urged the federal government to ensure the provision of natural gas to the province and expedite the issuance of the National Finance Commission (NFC) Award.

Governor Kundi announced the formation of two committees: a political committee tasked with engaging key figures, including the President, and a technical committee to address other issues. Criticizing the provincial leadership, Governor Kundi accused Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur of failing to maintain law and order, stating, “The provincial government has failed, and CM Gandapur seems intent on fostering anarchy in the country.”

Federal Minister Amir Muqam echoed these sentiments, accusing the chief minister of prioritizing protests in Islamabad over resolving provincial concerns.

The APC emphasized the importance of unity and collective action to ensure peace and protect KP’s interests. However, PTI’s absence loomed large over the gathering. The party cited its reservations, pointing to what it termed as a lack of acknowledgment or action against the alleged use of force on PTI protesters in Islamabad last month as the reason for its boycott.
