Islamabad, December 10, 2024 – Google’s Year in Search 2024 report unveiled the trends shaping Pakistan’s digital landscape, highlighting the nation’s interests in cricket, entertainment, food, and technology. The data underscores how Pakistan continues to blend its rich cultural heritage with a growing embrace of modernity.

Unsurprisingly, cricket dominated the search trends in Pakistan. The ICC T20 World Cup captured widespread attention, particularly matches involving Pakistan against teams like India, England, and Australia. The Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2024 also sparked interest, with users searching for schedules and player performances.

Figures like Shoaib Malik and Sajid Khan remained in the spotlight, while Olympic gold medalist Arshad Nadeem also drew significant attention following his historic achievement.

In the realm of entertainment, Pakistani dramas like Ishq Murshid and Kabhi Main Kabhi Tum continued to captivate audiences, while Bollywood films such as Animal and Dunki fueled cross-border buzz. Reality shows like Bigg Boss 17 and the eagerly awaited Mirzapur Season 3 also featured prominently.

Food remained a favorite topic, with searches for recipes spanning local and international cuisines. While classics like banana bread and creamy pasta gained traction, traditional favorites like malpura and tawa kaleji showcased Pakistan’s diverse palate. Seasonal beverages like peach iced tea reflected evolving culinary interests.

The rise of artificial intelligence was evident, with tools like Gemini and Remaker AI sparking curiosity. Smartphone searches, particularly for brands like Infinix, Redmi, and Apple, indicated Pakistan’s growing tech-savvy population. “How-to” searches also highlighted practical interests, from locating polling stations to earning money without investment.

Farhan Qureshi, Google’s Country Director for Pakistan, stated, “This year’s Year in Search reflects a nation deeply rooted in its traditions while embracing the opportunities of the digital age. From cricket to cuisine, and from movies to tech, Pakistanis are using Google to explore, connect, and grow.”
