Punjab CM invites Huawei to invest in Pakistan

December 13, 2024: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif visited Huawei Technologies in Shanghai’s Longgang district, where plans were discussed to transform Lahore into Pakistan’s first state-of-the-art smart city in collaboration with the tech giant.

The Chief Minister invited Huawei to invest in Pakistan, particularly in Punjab, and received assurance of full cooperation, including setting up an assembly and manufacturing plant in the province.

During a meeting with Huawei’s President of Government Affairs, Wang Chengdong, discussions covered proposals for digitizing Lahore, including advancements in e-commerce, ecosystem production, and the health and education sectors.

Maryam Nawaz also expressed interest in Huawei’s health and education initiatives and shared details of Punjab’s Safe City Project, emphasizing the potential for modernizing infrastructure through digital innovation.
