Islamabad, December 18, 2024: Speaker of the National Assembly, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, extended an offer on Wednesday to mediate negotiations between the government and opposition parties, emphasizing the importance of dialogue to bridge political differences.

“My office and home are always open for facilitating talks between the government and the opposition,” said Ayaz Sadiq. He underscored the need for constructive dialogue, stating, “Resolving political issues and other matters requires open communication, and I am prepared to play my part in this process.”

Sadiq also welcomed the recent exchange of views in the National Assembly between PTI leader Sher Afzal Marwat, Prime Minister’s Adviser on Political Affairs Rana Sanaullah, and Defence Minister Khawaja Asif.

During Tuesday’s session, Sher Afzal Marwat proposed the formation of a parliamentary committee to address the country’s pressing issues. This suggestion was met with approval from treasury members, who described it as “a breath of fresh air.”

Rana Sanaullah echoed the sentiment, urging PTI to formalize their intent for dialogue. “If the PTI has constituted a committee for talks, they should officially communicate this,” he said. Highlighting the necessity of political discourse, he added, “Political issues can only be resolved through dialogue. Without it, the system cannot function smoothly.”

He expressed optimism about the outcomes of potential talks, saying, “I believe that once dialogue begins, solutions will naturally follow.”

Defence Minister Khawaja Asif called for a more measured and respectful political discourse. “If you approach with positivity, I will respond positively. Hostility, however, only breeds hostility,” he remarked.

He stressed that mutual respect and goodwill, rather than threats and acrimony, are the keys to resolving political disputes.
