Islamabad, December 22, 2024: Speaker of the National Assembly, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, has called the inaugural meeting of the negotiation committees representing the government and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) for tomorrow at 11:30 AM. The meeting will take place in the Speaker’s chamber at the Parliament House.

Expressing his appreciation, Speaker Ayaz Sadiq lauded Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for forming a government negotiation committee to initiate talks with the opposition. He emphasized that dialogue and communication are crucial for resolving national issues and reiterated his commitment to facilitating this process. “The doors of my office will always remain open for both the government and opposition members,” he stated.

The negotiation committee formed by the government includes key members of the ruling coalition: Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, Rana Sanaullah Khan, Senator Irfan Siddiqui, Raja Pervez Ashraf, Naveed Qamar, Dr. Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, Aleem Khan, and Chaudhry Salik Hussain.

The PTI negotiation committee, on the other hand, comprises Omar Ayub, Asad Qaiser, Salman Akram Raja, Ali Amin Gandapur, and Sahibzada Hamid Raza.

PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar welcomed the government’s initiative, calling it a “positive step” toward resolving national issues. He emphasized the need for comprehensive and result-oriented discussions between the two sides. “We are hopeful that all issues will be resolved in the shortest possible time,” he remarked, expressing optimism about the commitment of both committees.

The Speaker’s initiative follows a formal request by PTI’s leadership, urging him to play an active role in facilitating dialogue. Both sides now look forward to meaningful negotiations that aim to address the pressing challenges facing the nation.
