Lahore, January 7, 2025: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz inaugurated a newly established health clinic in Lahore on Tuesday, reaffirming her commitment to enhancing healthcare services across the province.

During her address, CM Maryam lauded her team’s efforts and stressed that providing quality healthcare is a basic right of every citizen. “We are dedicated to overcoming the significant challenges facing the health sector,” she stated.

She expressed satisfaction with recent reforms, particularly the availability of insulin in government hospitals and the reinstatement of free medicine distribution. “With the rapid population growth, healthcare challenges have escalated, but we are taking concrete steps to address them,” she added.

To further strengthen healthcare delivery, CM Maryam announced the launch of complaint resolution desks in hospitals, ensuring prompt redressal of patients’ grievances. Additionally, she introduced mobile health units to extend medical services to remote areas and ease the pressure on existing healthcare facilities.

Acknowledging the critical role of young doctors in improving medical services, she promised to address gaps in the healthcare infrastructure. “The current state of healthcare is inadequate, and it genuinely keeps me awake at night,” she remarked.

Sharing insights from her recent discussions with Chinese officials, CM Maryam highlighted the stark differences in healthcare management between Punjab and China. She noted her surprise at learning that issues like the theft of medicines, a persistent problem in local hospitals, are virtually unheard of in China.

The Chief Minister concluded her speech by reiterating her government’s resolve to revamp Punjab’s healthcare system and provide equitable medical services to all citizens.
