Monsoon Rains Claim 40 Lives Across Balochistan: PDMA Report

Quetta- September 5, 2024- The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) of Balochistan has reported that the recent monsoon rains have led to the deaths of 40 individuals across the province. The fatalities include 24 children, 13 men, and 3 women. Additionally, 19 people were injured in various incidents caused by the heavy rainfall, with injuries affecting 14 children, 3 men, and 2 women.

Since July 1, the PDMA reports that 168,041 people have been impacted by the rains in Balochistan. The severe weather has resulted in the total destruction of 1,591 homes and partial damage to 15,797 others.

The report also highlights that flooding has affected 59,719 acres of crops and 179 kilometers of roads. Moreover, 593 livestock have been lost due to the rains. The heavy rainfall has also disrupted health services, impacting three health units in Jaffarabad and one each in Loralai and Kachi.
