Karachi, January 12, 2025: Senator Faisal Vawda has expressed firm belief that Imran Khan’s conviction in the £190 million case is unavoidable, accusing the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman of ignoring legal warnings and now facing the consequences.

In a press conference held at the Karachi Press Club, Vawda recalled his earlier warnings to Khan about the potential repercussions of the 190 million-pound deal, asserting, “I had cautioned Imran Khan that a case would be filed, and he would face a prison sentence. I had already predicted this case would result in a penalty.”

The senator also took aim at delays in the legal proceedings, accusing PTI’s leadership of spreading misinformation. “There is a punishment for every crime. No one will accept that others benefited from this; you will have to face the consequences,” Vawda stated.

Vawda went on to discuss the internal divisions within PTI, claiming that Khan’s own party members were conspiring against him. “For two and a half years, I have been warning that Khan’s relatives are plotting against him in jail, and now these issues are surfacing on social media,” he said. He cautioned that any further incidents could have long-lasting political consequences.

Further criticizing Khan’s leadership, Vawda warned that the former prime minister should not let his popularity lead him to believe he is untouchable. “Just because Imran Khan has become popular, it does not mean he should consider himself untouchable. His life is at risk, and his own people pose a threat to him,” he stated.

Vawda also addressed the May 9 protests, which he claimed were aimed at undermining the state and its institutions. “I had warned that people in power were only interested in keeping Imran Khan locked away,” he said.

In his remarks on the political climate, Vawda emphasized the need for honest, direct negotiations. “There is no room for backdoor diplomacy. This is a fight we must face directly. Pakistan needs leadership that is transparent and focused on the people,” he said.

Discussing national security, Vawda praised the sacrifices made by Pakistan’s military and law enforcement, emphasizing their role in ensuring the country’s stability. “Our soldiers have paid the ultimate price. Now, Pakistan is poised to play a significant role in the region, with international recognition of the sacrifices made by our security forces,” he said.

On the international front, Vawda noted the shifting global perspective, stating that while external pressure may exist, the world’s focus is now on Pakistan rather than Imran Khan. “The international winds are blowing in Pakistan’s favor. No external pressure is currently influencing us, and much more is to come,” he asserted.

Vawda dismissed rumors of backdoor deals between the government and PTI, insisting that the political process remains transparent. “If backdoor deals were happening, why are they still standing with their begging bowl?” he questioned.

In closing, Vawda reiterated his personal commitment to ensuring Khan’s safety, vowing to go to any length to help him. “If Khan needs a glass of water, I will be the one to bring it to him, no matter the time of day,” he concluded.
