Sindh govt launches initiative to promote films and combat extremism

Karachi, January 15, 2025: The Sindh government has launched an initiative aimed at supporting the local film and drama industry as part of its broader strategy to counter terrorism and extremism through creative storytelling.

In the inaugural meeting of the “Content and Production Oversight Board,” chaired by Sharjeel Memon, it was decided to encourage artists, emerging scriptwriters, and drama producers to contribute to the revitalization and growth of the film industry.

Memon highlighted the importance of promoting democratic values and positive societal change through innovative content. The board’s mission is to foster social development by supporting writers and production houses, offering financial assistance for approved projects to ensure the successful completion of impactful creative works. During the meeting, the Director-General of Public Relations provided a detailed overview of the board’s objectives and policy framework.
