Ethiopia, Pakistan sign MoU to hold political consultation

Addis Ababa, January 23, 2025: The Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia (FDRE) and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to hold regular political consultations, aiming to enhance bilateral cooperation across various sectors.

The MoU was signed in Addis Ababa by Ethiopia’s State Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Mesganu Arga, and Pakistan’s Additional Foreign Secretary, Ambassador Hamid Asghar Khan.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Ambassador Mesganu expressed Ethiopia’s eagerness to strengthen ties with Pakistan in areas such as agriculture, investment, trade, aviation, industry, and science and technology. He reaffirmed Ethiopia’s commitment to the principles of South-South cooperation as a foundation for mutual growth and partnership.

Ambassador Hamid Asghar Khan highlighted the importance of expanding bilateral relations and praised the launch of Ethiopian Airlines’ direct flight to Karachi, noting its role in fostering closer economic and cultural connections between the two nations.

The agreement reflects the shared commitment of Ethiopia and Pakistan to deepen collaboration and enhance mutual understanding in pursuit of sustainable development and prosperity.
