SC to hear petitions against 26th constitutional amendment tomorrow

Islamabad, January 26, 2025: The Supreme Court of Pakistan will hear petitions challenging the 26th Constitutional Amendment tomorrow, January 27. An eight-member constitutional bench, led by Justice Aminuddin Khan, has been constituted for the proceedings.

The bench will include Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar, Justice Ayesha Malik, Justice Hassan Azhar Rizvi, Justice Musarrat Hilali, Justice Naeem Akhtar Afghan, and Justice Shahid Bilal Hassan, alongside Justice Aminuddin Khan.

The session will be held in Courtroom No. 2, with access restricted to relevant parties and accredited journalists holding special entry passes. Mobile phones will not be permitted in the courtroom.

In preparation for the high-profile hearing, the Supreme Court has implemented special security measures to ensure smooth judicial proceedings.

The petitions, numbering over 20, focus on constitutional challenges to the amendment, with tomorrow’s session expected to set the stage for further legal debate.
