150 Pakistanis stranded in Goma amid Congo conflict: FO

Islamabad, January 30, 2025: Around 150 Pakistani nationals have been stranded in the city of Goma, Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), following a recent escalation of conflict in the region, the Foreign Office (FO) confirmed on Thursday.

According to a FO spokesperson, Pakistan’s High Commissioner in Kigali, Ambassador Naeemullah Khan, has been actively engaging with Rwandan authorities, who have now permitted the stranded Pakistanis to enter Rwanda. So far, 75 Pakistanis have successfully crossed into Rwanda.

The Pakistan High Commission in Kigali has made arrangements for accommodation and food for those affected. It is also coordinating with the Pakistani community to identify and assist any other citizens in need. More Pakistanis are expected to cross into Rwanda in the coming days.

The High Commission staff is in direct contact with every individual seeking assistance and is also reaching out to Pakistanis in the border city of Bukavu.
