Islamabad, February 11, 2025: Islamabad High Court’s Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani expressed deep concerns over the state of governance in Pakistan, stating that living in the country feels like a constant battle.

During a court proceeding on Tuesday, Justice Kayani remarked, “The judiciary is also a pillar of the state, yet the pillars of the state seem to be floating in the air. However, I am not hopeless.” He further observed that the judiciary, parliament, and executive institutions have all collapsed.

Justice Kayani also highlighted the role of the younger generation, asserting, “Anyone above 45 years old, including myself, is useless. It is the youth who have to do something for this country.”

His remarks, however, drew strong criticism from National Assembly Speaker Ayaz Sadiq, who termed them “unacceptable.” Addressing the assembly, Speaker Sadiq said, “Today, a media report surfaced in which a judge stated that the executive, judiciary, and parliament have collapsed. No one has the right to make statements against parliament, as it is our privilege.” He urged the law minister to deliver a firm message to the judge, emphasizing that such remarks would not be tolerated.
