Karachi, February 11, 2025: Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi honored over 700 construction workers of the National Bank Stadium with a special luncheon, recognizing their dedication and hard work in completing the stadium’s upgradation in a record 120 days.

During the event, Naqvi personally met and interacted with the workers, expressing his gratitude for their relentless efforts. He acknowledged their contribution, stating, “You have won hearts with your hard work. It is your right to watch the match.” As a token of appreciation, he formally invited the workers to attend the upcoming Pakistan vs. South Africa match, the first fixture at the renovated stadium. He further praised their efforts, saying, “We succeeded due to the tireless work of the workers. Every worker is a hero who helped turn our dream into reality.”

Pakistan’s white-ball captain Mohammad Rizwan, also present at the event, echoed Naqvi’s sentiments and promised that the national team will work hard to bring glory in the ICC Men’s Champions Trophy 2025. Addressing the workers, Rizwan said, “You have proved that we are a hardworking nation. Like you, we will also put in the effort and aim for great results, especially in Karachi.”

The event was attended by senior PCB officials, including Advisor Amir Mir, Chief Operating Officer Sameer Ahmed, and PSL Chief Executive Officer Salman Naseer. The newly-renovated National Bank Stadium is set to host two matches of the ongoing tri-nation ODI series featuring Pakistan, New Zealand, and South Africa on February 12 and 14. It will then stage three key matches of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, including the opening clash between Pakistan and New Zealand on February 19. With the stadium upgrade completed in record time, Pakistan cricket now looks forward to showcasing world-class cricketing action at the revamped Karachi venue.
