Karachi, February 13, 2025 – Pakistan’s star batter Babar Azam has requested fans to stop referring to him as “king,” stating that he has yet to earn such a title.

Speaking after Pakistan’s victory against South Africa in the tri-nation series, Babar emphasized his commitment to scoring runs but admitted he has struggled to finish games.

“Unfortunately, I haven’t been able to finish the innings, but Rizwan and Salman played exceptionally well today. Performances like these boost the team’s confidence,” he said.

Babar firmly reiterated that he does not see himself as a “king” and asked fans to refrain from using the term.

“I am not a king yet. We will see once my career is over,” he remarked.

He also addressed his new role as an opener, explaining that he took on the responsibility based on the team’s requirements.

“Opening is a new role for me, and I am adapting to it. Once the innings builds, I get a better idea of the game and the pitch. I always aim to perform well, but I haven’t been able to play long innings after settling in,” he added.

Reflecting on his mindset, Babar shared his approach to overcoming challenges and staying focused on future performances. “What I have done in the past is history. If I dwell on past performances, I won’t be able to deliver in the future. Every new day brings a fresh plan and mindset. Successfully chasing big totals gives us confidence moving forward,” he concluded.
