New Delhi, February 19, 2025: Shraddha Kapoor is set to star as the female lead in the highly anticipated sequel, Sanam Teri Kasam 2, opposite Harshvardhan Rane. The news has sparked mixed reactions among fans, especially as Kapoor replaces Mawra Hocane, who played the beloved character Saraswati in the original film.

Kapoor, who recently delivered a box office blockbuster with Stree 2, has built a reputation for excelling in intense romantic dramas, with notable performances in Aashiqui 2 and Ek Villain. Her inclusion in Sanam Teri Kasam 2 was hinted at by writer-director duo Radhika Rao and Vinay Sapru, who, when asked about the casting, playfully urged fans to “tag Shraddha.”

Given that the first film concluded with Saraswati’s tragic demise, the sequel is expected to take the story in a new direction, possibly introducing a fresh love interest for Harshvardhan Rane’s character, Inder.

While Kapoor’s fans are thrilled by the announcement, loyal followers of the original film have expressed disappointment over Hocane’s absence.

Supporters of the casting decision believe Kapoor’s experience in heartfelt romance dramas makes her a perfect fit. One fan wrote, “Shraddha has nailed emotional roles in Aashiqui 2 and Ek Villain. She will make this a superhit!” Another commented, “Harsh and Shraddha will be an amazing pair!”

However, die-hard fans of the original strongly opposed the change, demanding Mawra Hocane’s return. One user pleaded, “Noooo, please bring back Mawra and Harsh. No one else can replace them!” Another commented, “Without Saru, the movie will flop.”

Amid the buzz surrounding the sequel, Sanam Teri Kasam was re-released in theaters on February 7, 2025, and has performed exceptionally well at the box office. The overwhelming love for the film has only heightened anticipation for its second installment, making the casting of the female lead a hot topic of debate.

With Shraddha Kapoor now officially on board, all eyes are on Radhika Rao and Vinay Sapru to see how they shape the sequel’s narrative and whether it can recreate the magic of the original.
