New York, February 22, 2025: Republican senators have introduced a bill in the U.S. Senate seeking to withdraw the United States from the United Nations (UN) and halt its funding.
According to Republican Senator Mike Lee, the bill proposes a complete U.S. exit from the UN and its affiliated agencies, an end to U.S. financial contributions, and the termination of the agreement that allows the UN to maintain its headquarters in New York.
The bill also recommends revoking diplomatic immunity for UN employees in the United States. Meanwhile, Republican members of the House of Representatives are preparing to introduce a similar bill.
