Lahore, March 13, 2025: The Pakistan Super League (PSL) is gearing up for a major expansion, with the tournament set to grow from six to eight teams after the 2025 season. PSL CEO Salman Naseer confirmed the ambitious plan, emphasizing the careful planning and strategic execution required for this significant shift.

“By the end of this year, we might see two more teams joining the league,” Naseer stated, expressing enthusiasm for the expansion, which aims to re-energize the tournament, broaden its reach, and further ignite fan passion.

The PSL has come a long way since its inception in the UAE, initially launched at a time when international cricket had virtually ceased in Pakistan due to security concerns. Reflecting on the league’s progress, Naseer noted, “We started when no cricket was happening in Pakistan, and now, the league has become instrumental in bringing international cricket back to our home stadiums.”

As the league expands, maintaining its high standards and competitive balance remains a top priority. Naseer stressed the importance of ensuring quality cricket, particularly the balance between bat and ball.

“With expansion, we need to ensure that the quality remains intact,” he asserted, assuring fans that PSL will continue to deliver thrilling, high-intensity cricket while embracing its new era of growth.
