Washington, March 22, 2025: The US State Department has confirmed that the deadline for reviewing visa restrictions on various countries is not set for today (March 22).
“I can tell you that the deadline is not today,” State Department Spokesperson Tammy Bruce said during a regular press briefing. She declined to provide specific details but emphasized that there should be no expectation of an announcement on this matter today.
Bruce reiterated that the State Department remains committed to national security and public safety by enforcing a strict visa adjudication process, as outlined by President Donald Trump’s executive order, which initiated this policy review. She emphasized that ensuring foreign travelers do not pose a security threat remains a top priority for the US government.
“This issue has been a significant focus since September 12, 2001, and continues to be of great concern to the American public,” she noted.
When asked about sanctions on Iran, Bruce underscored that Iran’s actions pose a global threat to US national interests. She stated that President Trump’s ‘maximum pressure’ campaign aims to eliminate Iran’s nuclear threat, curtail its ballistic missile program, and halt its support for terrorist groups.
“The president has made it clear that Iran can never be allowed to develop a nuclear weapon,” she added. She also highlighted that sanctions have been imposed on nations and entities assisting Iran’s nuclear framework, including recent sanctions on a Chinese company involved in such activities.
The spokesperson reaffirmed the US government’s firm stance on security and international compliance, signaling continued diplomatic and economic measures against threats to national and global stability.
