Dera Ghazi Khan, March 29, 2025: Security forces successfully foiled a terrorist attack on the Lakhanai border checkpost in Dera Ghazi Khan late last night, killing three militants and forcing the rest to flee.

According to police reports, a group of 20 to 25 militants launched an assault on the checkpost but faced strong retaliation from security personnel. The intense counter-operation left several terrorists injured, while the surviving attackers abandoned their weapons and equipment as they fled.

Following the attack, Punjab Police, the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD), and other security agencies launched a comprehensive search operation early this morning, sealing off the area to track down the fleeing militants.

During the sweep, security forces recovered body parts of three more militants from different locations. Large amounts of blood were also found along escape routes, indicating that more attackers had sustained serious injuries.

Officials stated that elite commandos used advanced weaponry to neutralize the attackers, forcing them to abandon their belongings, including footwear and other equipment.

Punjab Inspector General (IG) reaffirmed that the province’s security forces remain on high alert, emphasizing that extremist elements will not be allowed to infiltrate Punjab. He assured that stringent measures are in place to counter any future threats.

The search operation is still ongoing, with security forces determined to eliminate any remaining threats in the region.
