Lahore, May 7, 2025: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has confirmed that all fixtures of the ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL) Season 10 will proceed as scheduled, despite heightened cross-border tensions following recent Indian military strikes on Pakistani territory.

In an official statement issued Wednesday, the PCB announced that today’s clash between Islamabad United and Quetta Gladiators will take place as planned at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium. The toss is scheduled for 7:30 PM, with the match beginning at 8:00 PM. The board reaffirmed that there are no plans to alter the schedule of any upcoming matches in the tournament.

The announcement comes in the wake of a dramatic escalation in hostilities, as Indian airstrikes targeted several civilian areas overnight in Azad Jammu and Kashmir, including Kotli, Muzaffarabad, and Bagh, as well as cities in Punjab such as Muridke and Ahmadpur East. At least 26 civilians, including two young children, were martyred and 46 others injured. Two mosques were also destroyed in the attacks.

In response, the Pakistan Armed Forces launched a robust counteroffensive, reportedly downing five Indian aircraft — including three Rafale jets, a Sukhoi, a MiG-29, and a combat UAV. Pakistani forces also carried out strikes on key Indian military installations across the Line of Control (LoC), reportedly neutralizing a brigade headquarters. According to military sources, India signaled a withdrawal by raising a white flag at the LoC following the losses.

Despite the tense security environment, the PCB’s decision to carry on with the PSL is being viewed as a strong message of national resilience and confidence in Pakistan’s security preparedness. The board emphasized that all necessary security arrangements are in place and that fans can expect the league to continue without disruption.

“The continuation of PSL amidst such a volatile situation sends a message of unity and defiance,” a senior PCB official stated. “Cricket remains a symbol of hope and normalcy for millions of Pakistanis.”

As the nation navigates both external threats and domestic morale, the PSL serves not only as a sporting event but also as a reaffirmation of national solidarity in the face of adversity.
