Islamabad, May 8, 2025: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a weather advisory forecasting dust storms, thunderstorms, and hailstorms across various parts of the country from May 8 to May 12.

According to the PMD, the volatile weather is being driven by moist currents entering the upper and central regions of Pakistan, combined with a westerly wave influencing most areas. The department has warned of possible damage to infrastructure such as trees, electric poles, solar panels, and vehicles due to strong winds and lightning activity.

In Sindh, most districts will experience partly cloudy conditions. Thunderstorms and light rain are likely in Mithi, Mohenjo-Daro, Sukkur, and Hyderabad, especially on Friday. Meanwhile, cities such as Nawabshah, Dadu, and Karachi are expected to remain hot and mostly dry, with daytime temperatures ranging between 36°C and 44°C. Karachi will continue to experience humid and partly cloudy conditions, with highs between 34°C and 38°C through the weekend.

Rain and thunderstorms—some intense and accompanied by hail—are forecast for Kashmir, northern and eastern Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, northeast and southern Balochistan, and parts of southeast Sindh on Thursday and Friday.

In the past 24 hours, the country largely experienced hot and dry conditions, though isolated thunderstorm activity was recorded in parts of upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, northeastern Punjab, and northern Balochistan.

Citizens are advised to remain cautious and secure any loose structures ahead of the anticipated weather activity.
