Rawalpindi, May 20, 2025: Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir on Tuesday expressed profound gratitude upon being promoted to the highest rank in the Pakistan Army, dedicating the honor to the people of Pakistan and the country’s armed forces.
In a statement released by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Field Marshal Munir said, “This honor is not mine alone; it belongs to the entire nation and the Armed Forces of Pakistan—especially our civil and military martyrs and our veterans.”
He thanked Allah Almighty for the elevation and expressed appreciation to President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, and the Federal Cabinet for their trust and confidence, calling the promotion a “national trust.” “Millions of Asim Munirs are ready to uphold this trust with loyalty and sacrifice,” he remarked.
The historic promotion was approved earlier in the day during a federal cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. The cabinet unanimously endorsed the decision to elevate General Munir, recognizing his strategic leadership and decisive command during Operation Bunyan-um-Marsoos—a successful military campaign launched in response to Indian aggression.
The operation, described by the government as Marka-e-Haq (The Battle of Truth), was hailed for safeguarding Pakistan’s sovereignty and defeating hostile designs through coordinated and courageous military strategy.
“This is not just a personal recognition, but a tribute to the collective resilience and bravery of the Pakistani nation and its armed forces,” Field Marshal Munir concluded, extending heartfelt thanks to the people of Pakistan.
