Karaj, May 20, 2025: Pakistan powered into the final of the 16th BFA West Asia Baseball Cup with a commanding 14-1 victory over arch-rivals India in the semifinal on Tuesday, maintaining their unbeaten streak in the tournament being held in Karaj, Iran.

With this emphatic win, defending champions Pakistan have set up a title clash against Palestine, as they aim to retain their regional crown.

Pakistan’s dominance was evident from the start, as they raced to five runs each in the first and third innings, leaving India reeling. The game ended after seven innings under the mercy rule, invoked due to the substantial run difference, sealing Pakistan’s place in the final with authority.

Third baseman Hussain delivered a standout performance, going 2-for-4 at the plate, driving in two RBIs, and scoring four runs himself to anchor the offense.

Earlier in the group stage, Pakistan topped Group B with a perfect record. They opened their campaign with a hard-fought 10-6 win over Bangladesh, overcoming mid-game pressure and defensive errors. Syed Muhib Shah played a key role in stabilizing the team with a strong performance from the mound.

In their second match, Pakistan overwhelmed hosts Iran 14-0, showcasing their batting might and pitching prowess. Muhammad Haris was near-unhittable, delivering six scoreless innings, striking out 13 batters, and conceding just two hits.

The tournament, organized by the Baseball Federation of Asia (BFA) — a branch of the World Baseball and Softball Confederation (WBSC) under the International Olympic Committee (IOC) — brings together leading national teams from across West Asia.

Pakistan will now look to cap off their flawless campaign with a win in the final against Palestine.
