‘Unjustified and illegal’: Pakistan condemns Israeli airstrikes on Iran

Islamabad, June 13, 2025: Pakistan has strongly condemned the Israeli military’s early morning airstrikes on Iran, denouncing the assault as an “unacceptable” breach of international law and a serious threat to regional peace and stability.

In an official statement issued on Friday, the Foreign Office expressed grave concern over the Israeli strikes, describing them as a blatant violation of Iran’s sovereignty and a clear contravention of the United Nations Charter.

“Pakistan strongly condemns Israel’s military strikes inside Iranian territory. These actions are a blatant violation of international law and the UN Charter,” the Foreign Office spokesperson stated. “Iran, as a sovereign nation, has every right to defend itself under Article 51 of the UN Charter.”

The statement urged the international community to urgently intervene and prevent further escalation in an already volatile region, warning that continued aggression could trigger wider instability across the Middle East.

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar also took to social media to denounce the Israeli airstrikes, writing on X (formerly Twitter):

“Strongly condemn unjustified Israeli attacks on the Islamic Republic of Iran, which are a brazen violation of Iran’s sovereignty. This abhorrent action has shaken the foundations of international law and the conscience of humanity, and gravely undermines regional stability and international security. Pakistan stands in solidarity with the Government and the people of Iran.”

The Israeli airstrikes, which Tel Aviv claims were “preemptive and precise,” reportedly targeted sensitive locations in Tehran, including military installations and nuclear-related infrastructure, and led to the deaths of several Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) officials, including senior commanders.

The attack has drawn widespread condemnation across the Muslim world, with Iran vowing a firm and measured response. Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei and Brigadier General Abolfazl Shekarchi, spokesperson for the Iranian Armed Forces, both accused Israel of committing a “grave crime” allegedly backed by the United States, and promised “severe punishment” in retaliation.

As tensions rise, diplomatic observers warn that the situation could spiral into a broader conflict if de-escalation efforts are not immediately prioritized by global powers.
