Peshawar, June 23, 2025: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur on Monday warned that he would dissolve the provincial assembly if instructed by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder and former Prime Minister Imran Khan.

Speaking on the floor of the KP Assembly, Gandapur expressed frustration over being denied a meeting with Imran Khan, stating that he wanted to personally present the provincial budget to the party leader. “I am not being allowed to meet Imran Khan,” he said. “But we will pass this budget and implement whatever he directs.”

Gandapur accused the Governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa of deliberately avoiding the budget session to obstruct the democratic process. “This is the first time in the province’s history that the Governor has failed to summon a budget session,” he remarked, alleging that the federal government is conspiring to declare an economic emergency as a pretext to dismiss the PTI-led provincial government.

In a fiery address, the Chief Minister reiterated PTI’s claim that the February 8 general elections were rigged. He cited the statement of the former Rawalpindi Commissioner, calling it proof that Form-47s were manipulated to deny PTI its electoral mandate.

Gandapur also accused state institutions of persecuting PTI leaders and workers, adding that the “conspiracy” to suppress the party continues. “This assembly sends a message to all institutions: Imran Khan was the rightful Prime Minister, removed through a conspiracy,” he declared.

The Chief Minister reminded the house that Imran Khan had voluntarily dissolved both Punjab and KP assemblies “for the sake of democracy.” He vowed to act again if instructed. “When he says to end our government, we will — but we will not allow any conspiracy to succeed,” Gandapur asserted.

He concluded by warning those he accused of misusing authority: “History will remember you. If you think you won’t be held accountable, you are mistaken.”
