Lahore, July 9, 2025: In a notable display of cross-sport solidarity, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi met with Pakistan Tennis Federation (PTF) President Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi on Wednesday to discuss the promotion and development of tennis in Pakistan.

During the meeting, Aisam highlighted the persistent issues related to tennis court infrastructure in Islamabad. Responding promptly, Chairman Naqvi instructed the relevant authorities to address the concerns without delay, ensuring the timely resolution of all outstanding problems.

Reaffirming his commitment to supporting all sports beyond cricket, Naqvi assured the PTF of the PCB’s full cooperation in promoting tennis.

“We will also build new tennis courts,” he announced, adding, “Pakistan is full of talent—not just in cricket, but in tennis as well.”

Chairman Naqvi emphasized the importance of nurturing youth across various disciplines.

“We want Pakistani athletes to shine in tennis just like they do in cricket,” he said. He also noted the growing interest in Paddle tennis among the country’s youth and pledged PCB’s backing in helping PTF tap into this emerging trend.

“PTF will have our complete support to ensure young players benefit from the rise of padel tennis,” he added.

PTF President Aisam-ul-Haq congratulated Naqvi on the successful hosting of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 and commended his efforts to advance cricket in Pakistan. He also expressed gratitude for Naqvi’s willingness to support tennis and for his pledge to construct new courts to enhance the sport’s infrastructure.

PCB Chief Operating Officer Sumair Ahmed was also present during the meeting.

This collaboration signals a broader shift toward inter-institutional cooperation in Pakistan’s sports landscape, aimed at uplifting underrepresented disciplines and creating new opportunities for young athletes.
