Islamabad, July 9, 2025: In a significant step toward deepening bilateral cooperation, two senior Turkish officials—Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan and Minister of National Defence Yaşar Güler—arrived in Islamabad today on an official visit, at the invitation of Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar.
Foreign Minister Fidan co-chairs the Joint Commission established under the High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council (HLSCC), while Defence Minister Güler leads the Joint Ministerial Commission (JMC) from Türkiye’s side.
Deputy Prime Minister Dar welcomed the dignitaries and reaffirmed the historic and brotherly relations between Pakistan and Türkiye. He praised the positive trajectory of bilateral cooperation and stressed the need to enhance engagement in priority areas such as trade, investment, energy, and defense.
Foreign Minister Fidan conveyed warm greetings from President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and reiterated Türkiye’s strong commitment to building a deeper, long-term partnership with Pakistan. He emphasized the enduring ties between the two countries, rooted in shared history, faith, and cultural values.
The visit marked the first meeting of the Joint Commission, formed during the last session of the HLSCC held in Islamabad in February 2025. The commission is tasked with overseeing the work of twelve Joint Standing Committees, each focused on specific areas of bilateral cooperation. Deputy Prime Minister Dar expressed satisfaction that all committees have either convened or are scheduled to meet in the near future—reflecting strong institutional momentum and shared commitment.
Both sides also discussed preparations for the forthcoming Joint Ministerial Commission (JMC) meeting, to be co-chaired by Minister Yaşar Güler and Pakistan’s Minister for Commerce, Jam Kamal Khan. The JMC is expected to further bolster economic collaboration and defense ties.
In addition to bilateral matters, the two delegations exchanged views on regional and international developments, reaffirming their shared commitment to peace, stability, and development in the region.
This high-level visit underscores the importance both countries place on their strategic partnership, and reflects a shared resolve to advance multifaceted cooperation through sustained dialogue and joint initiatives.
